The
magnificent ancient city in 40 km from Agra was the short lived capital of
Mughal emperors in 16th century. Emperor Akbar visited Fatehpur
Sikri to see and consult Sufi saint Shaikh Salim Chisti regarding birth of his descendent.
Sufi saint Shaikh Salim Chishti predicted the birth of an heir to the Mughal Empire.
When the predict came true, Mughal emperor Akbar in 1571 shift his capital to
Fatehpur Sikri and he built some majestic buildings and fort in Fatehpur Sikri,
including stunning mosque, still in use and three palaces for his three
favourite wives, which is a finest example of combine art work of Mughal and Persian
architecture.
