Sikandra - landmark in Agra

Fort is the last resting place of Mughal Emperor Akbar in outskirt of Agra popularly known as Sikandra Fort. Sikandra Fort is located in distance of 13 km before Agra in Agra Delhi old highway. Sikandra Fort is an important Mughal architectural masterpiece in Agra built in 1605 – 1613 by his son Jahangir.


Sikandra Fort is red sand stone and marble tomb built in 119 acres and this glorious monument show cases the fusion of Budhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain and Islamic artwork.  Tomb is planned and site was selected by Emperor Akbar by himself while he alive. It is also one of the most preserve and well maintain site in Agra after Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.

Jal Mahal

Jal Mahal (Water Palace) a picturesque palace located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake Jaipur Rajasthan. A spectacular palace in Jaipur showcasing royal rajput craftsmanship of 18 century India however, Water Palace is one of the palaces of India which didn’t have and records of construction. It is popularly believed that Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh constructed Jal Mahal in 1799 and use as a hunting lodge. Some people believe construction of this palace done in 1750 by Maharaja Madho Singh I as a summer palace for royal family.

The palace is a five storied building built in red sandstone. The four floors of water palace are always underwater and the top floor and terrace garden is exposed. Four elaborate octagonal designed chhatris on the four corners of the palace and a huge Bengal-style rectangular chhatri on the roof of the palace beautify the palace.

Today, Jal Mahal count as a must visit site of Jaipur among with Amer Fort and City Palace.

The Amer Fort

The Amer Fort, one of the most popular fort of Rajasthan with significant importance in Indian history and must visit site of Jaipur for its incredible architectural masterpiece. Earlier part of Amer Fort built by meenas the rulers from Chanda Clan in 967 CE, afterward structure was fully expanded by Raja Man Singh and his descendant Jai Singh I.

Exploring Amer Fort always giving the visitor something extraordinary experience of Jaipur’s history and culture. This legendary fort of Jaipur is built from yellow and red sandstone along with white marble. Fort is divided into four different sections namely Diwan-e-Aam, or "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas, or "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas.

Tips for Visitors.

The fort is located 11 km from the city of Jaipur. The fort is opened for visitors from 9 in the morning till 6 in the evening. Elephant ride is available from morning 9:30 till afternoon 1:00. The light show in Hindi starts from 8 in the evening and the English light show starts from 7:30 in the evening.
